Found in 18330220BJS_WHS1. He and Irving are going to move to Illinois. Brother-in-law of Pierre M. Irving. He was an alcoholic, periodically reforming and relapsing. Later reformed altogether and became a leading citizen in Jacksonville, IL, where he lived the rest of his life.,
  • James Berdan, son of David Berdan Senior grew up in New York City. He had five siblings: Rachel (became Mrs. Frederick Root) (b. 1793), Peter (b. 1797), John (1798-1840), Magaret (1800-1832), and David (1803-1827).
  • David Sr. was authorized to explore the frontier states of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois and caused James and his siblings to venture to the middle of the county. James started a law practice in Jacksonville, Illinois and eventually became a judge.
