Biographical Information
Secretary of legation in Paris, was promoted to charge d'affaires in the same capital; he served in Lisbon in Rome (to the Holy See) and Kingdoms of Sardinia and Tuscany (1834-37); minister-resident in Austria-Hungary (1844), became plenipotentiary in 1847; assigned to France in 1851, did not take the stand, because it was soon after removed to Britain; named to the United States in 1855, either assumed by entering availability; minister plenipotentiary in Paris (1866). President of Pernambuco (1856/57); by Mr Neutral Municipality (Rio de Janeiro) from 1857 to 1860 and deputy for Pernambuco from 1861 to 1864. Empire Minister from 1858 to 1859, the Abaete cabinet. In 1865 he transferred his residence to Europe.
