Biographical Information
US Congressman. He served in the War of 1812 as an Assistant Adjutant General on the staff of Major General Ebenezer Stevens, who commanded all of the New York State Militia. After a career as a highly successful banker and merchant, he was elected as a Whig to represent New Jersey's 5th Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1849 to 1851.
