- Edward Emmons was born in Hobart, NY to Anthony and Abigail (nee Paine). He married Frances J. Perry, sister to "Mr. Steele's" first and second wives in 1830. Edward lived and practiced law in Auburn in the early 1860s (1861 and 62), and was also practicing law in Pennsylvania. He participated in the case against Frances and Catherine Drexel. He and his wife had four children born in Auburn: Julia F., Ellen Augusta, Archibald Robertson, Edward Charles. Julia died at age two. Edward and his wife are buried at Fort Hill Cemetery with her.
