He was a steamboat captain. He is listed as messenger of Wm. Henry Seward during Civil War in "Seward at Washington as Senator and Secretary of State" by Frederick W. Seward (1891).SSS writes to him in 1841 that he will "receive a small colored boy Name William Coe belonging to my son William H Seward of Albany" and requests Schultz grant him passage.
