- Biographical Information
- Husband of Mary Meyer Warren (nee Bowers); for many years a successful wholesale dry goods merchant of Troy, NY, with the firm of Southwick, Cannon & Warren; president of the Troy City Bank for several years; and president of the Troy Union Railroad Company until his death in 1879. Attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church and was politically a Whig, at one time running for Congress, but beaten by an Anti-Rent candidate. Mentioned in 18340108FMS_LMW, in which Frances writes to Lazette from Albany: "Mary Warren and George called that afternoon upon me... George is rather improved in his manners does not talk the whole time of Dash and his horses – and occasionally advances an idea in which self does not so entirely preponderate as to render it disgusting."
