Accurately transcribing and annotating letters in the Seward Family Digital Archive depends on the information our team has compiled, catalogued and preserved in our databases and finding aids. Our three databases contain information on the people, places, and books we’ve encountered in the manuscripts. These databases help us maintain a record of our scholarship – the people barely known in the historical record, the forgotten town names overtaken by suburban sprawl, and loved books long since forgotten.
