Biographical Information

Harriet Bogart was born around 1807 in Cayuga County, New York, and moved to Auburn, New York, around 1830. According to Frances Worden Chesebro, Harriet worked in her parent's household and was the first person to hold the infant Frances after the doctor delivered her.

Harriet was also an important figure in the William H. and Frances Miller Seward household, providing crucial care and assistance to ill and injured family members. 

Harriet first married a man, surname Hays, with whom she had two children, Willis and Lewis. This marriage ended and Harriet later married Nicolas Bogart, with whom she had three children, two of whom died in childhood (Frances and Sarah), and the third, Harriet Bogart Simpson, dying in 1860.

Harriet died on August 20, 1888.9
