Biographical Information: Niece of William Henry Seward (daughter of his sister Cornelia). She remarried after her first husband died and moved with him to Virginia. Combined from both marriages, she had 10 children, not all of them reaching and flourishing through adulthood. With JLS, she had three children: Oliver Johnson Schoolcraft, John Lawrence Schoolcraft, and Marie Seward Schoolcraft. With her second marriage to Beattie, she had 7 children: Hugh St. Clair Beattie, Henry Canfield Beattie, Robert McAlister Beattie, Joseph Gilmore Beattie, Alice Maud Beattie, Agnes Jennings Beattie, and Marian Dickerson Beattie.
