Biographical Information
He was the second son of John Lawrence and Caroline Schoolcraft. He moved to Richmond, VA with his family where he worked as a banker and engaged in the real estate business. He is listed as a stockbroker in the 1880 Richmond, VA census. He became the owner of the Richmond Inquirer in 1877 and the president of the R.S. Railway Company and later secretary, treasurer of the stock exchange. He married twice.
